Geneva is home to a wide variety of humanitarian actors whose work spans the globe. The Geneva Humanitarian Forum (GHF) seeks to provide a platform for creative thinking, interaction, and the exchange of ideas on issues challenging the humanitarian community.
A key project of the GHF is a website interface, a “portal”. Portals sift through the usual information overload of the Internet to provide concise and pertinent information to its users, and connect them to others with similar interests.
The GHF portal accumulates and distils information into an accessible and useful resource for humanitarian actors in Geneva and beyond, which provides a comprehensive range of evaluated data to enhance informed debate and policymaking. Through the portal, the Geneva Humanitarian Forum assembles a network of experts, policy makers, and interested colleagues who share information and engage in efficient and focused policy dialogue.
The GHF also aspires to reinforce exchanges between professionals working within the humanitarian community and various academic institutions in Geneva, with the intention of forming a centre for excellence for humanitarian teaching and research.
Finally, the GHF hopes to reinforce Geneva's position as a major hub contributing to the support for humanitarian action by organizing public events, conferences, and symposiums on current issues.
(The Geneva Humanitarian Forum is an Association in accordance with Article 60 and subsequent Articles of the Swiss Civil Code. Its support includes the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Geneva International Academic Network, the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum, and ECOGIA, ICRC's training centre, with additional provisions from the Political Division IV, Department of Foreign Affairs, Bern and by the State of Geneva).
